Description
Taken at Port Orange, Florida. There is a pond by the waterway that I go to quite often. The birds come and hang out to fish and drink. On this day the Blue Heron happen to show up. One the edge of the pond bank I could hear little noises. Not sure what it was I walked over to the edge. Sitting there with an outstretched wing was a seagull. It did not move away from me, first sign that something is wrong. I needed to call the wildlife people to come. But I had forgotten my cell phone at home. There happened to be a man sitting at the picnic table who I approached. He was kind enough to let me use his cell phone. It took just a few minutes and the wildlife people came, got the seagull who had a broken wing. This seagull is a regular at the pond. The reason I know is he has one foot missing. It was taken to the bird recovery place in Ponce Inlet and then it will be let free.
