Artist's Description

Anhingas are common throughout the Florida Everglades and South Florida. Their breeding period is during the winter, and the eye ring turns a deep aqua during this period. Females are distinguished from males by their light brown neck. Anhingas do not have oil glands to waterproof their feathers so they spread their wings to dry off in the sun.
